How do I recognise a genuine meteorite?+
No single feature is sufficient. Classification, documented provenance, exact specimen data and, where needed, laboratory analysis must agree.
What does COA mean?+
A certificate links a specimen with seller and data. It does not replace scientific classification.
Does the image show my exact piece?+
Unique specimens explicitly say ‘exact specimen’. Accessories use neutral reference illustrations and link their source.
Why is only an estimate shown for auctions?+
Bids change continuously. AustroMeteorites shows a stable estimate and links to the live auction.
How should meteorites be stored?+
Keep them dry, stable and in archival materials. Metal-rich pieces particularly benefit from a sealed container, silica gel and a humidity indicator.
Can you search for a particular specimen?+
Yes. A request defines class, budget and form. Acquisition is not guaranteed; commission applies only after explicit prior agreement.
